BTCC | RD 7/8/9 – THRUXTON

The third round of the British Touring Car Championship headed to Hampshire and the quickest track on the calendar at Thruxton. Ash Sutton went into the three race meet in the lead of the championship by a small margin, but the double race win at Donington by Colin Turkington had moved him up to third in the championship,  just behind Josh Cook. Parts of the Hampshire circuit had been resurfaced over the winter period, which would likely mean that what was already a quick track was probably set to become…

MOTOGP | RD5 – LE-MANS – FRANCE

Round 5 of the 2019 season took place at another of the iconic tracks which feature on the MotoGP calendar, Le Mans. As usual the weather guaranteed nothing here so who would have known just what kind of a race that would have been in store. Throughout the Free Practice (FP) sessions, turn 3 collected the most victims for crashes and the tyre choices were a bit of an issue for most riders. Yet again one of the big named riders fell into the trap of not getting a good…

MOTOGP | RD4 – JEREZ – SPAIN

Well here we are at the first of a number of European rounds which are considered to be better and more favourable tracks for the majority of the riders. Whilst the fly-away tracks are interesting and do provide good racing, the majority being European are more comfortable with these tracks; as they are both nearer to home and provide better facilities. Due to the nature of the track, Jerez  has provided a lot of good duels and battles over the years. The crowds are always out early in high numbers…

BTCC | RD 4/5/6 – DONINGTON PARK

The KwikFit British Touring Car Championship rolled in to Leicestershire for the second meeting of the 2019 season. Donington Park has a rich history of providing some outstanding racing; think back to a sodden European Grand Prix in 1993 and a sterling first lap effort from Ayrton Senna. Rounds 4, 5 and 6 were no different, albeit from the other side of the fence for many. Reigning champion Colin Turkington took a brace of lights to flag victories and looked comfortable with the new West Surrey Racing entered BMW 3-Series,…

BGT | RD1 – OULTON PARK

The British GT Championships opening round started on a blisteringly hot Easter Bank Holiday weekend at Oulton Park. The weather conditions were in stark contrast to last years opening meet where the second race was somewhat controversially cancelled due to persistent rain and flooding on the track. Despite only a couple of laps being completed behind the safety car, points were awarded to the teams despite no race having taken place. No such events would occur this weekend with barely a cloud in sight over the whole weekend. The anticipation…

MOTOGP | RD3 – USA

It was a mixed bag for the Free Practise sessions and Qualifying due to the most bizarre weather conditions. During Friday both FP sessions were dry and sunny, but were not dominated by Marc Marquez for once who has won here for the last six years and taken pole position every time. FP1 finished with Marc Marquez top, Maverick Vinales in second and Jack Miller third, whilst Andrea Dovizioso did well to finish fourth on the Ducati that does not usually do too well here. Valentino Rossi was quietly beavering…

F1 | RD3 – HEINEKEN CHINESE GRAND PRIX 2019 | QF

Valtteri Bottas was able to secure pole position in China and beat his team mate Lewis Hamilton by 0.023 seconds to complete a Mercedes one-two on the grid. It had been a tough qualifying session for Ferrari but they managed to pick up the pace in Q3 but over three tenths slower than the Silver Arrows. Alexander Albon would not appear on track after his crash in FP3 and there would be a second absentee of Antonio Giovinazzi who had a power unit issue with his Alfa Romeo. That meant…
